On January 15th, 1919, Boston experienced a disaster unlike any other. A massive tank filled with that thick sweet nectar burst open in the city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that raged through the streets like a tsunami. The flood, soaring to 25 feet in some areas, was devastating. Structures succumbed under the weight of the unstoppable goo.
The aftermath was heartbreaking. Twenty-one people lost their lives, and many more were injured. The flood also caused ruin to property, leaving a trail of sweet devastation in its wake.
